To all Patrons, Supporters and Subscribers of the Leith Summer Festival:

It is with regret, but with a sense of civic responsibility (and common sense), that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 season of the Leith Summer Festival.  We have delayed this announcement until now in hopes that somehow all or some of our concerts could still be staged – but it is not to be. Our five concerts, the Ceilidh, Country Market and Anniversary Service are all cancelled for 2020.

Our intention is to mount a full program of five concerts in the Summer of 2021, bringing you the high-quality performances that characterize our Festival. Hopefully, our other events will also be reinstated.

While we will not SEE you during this summer, we shall strive to stay in touch as much as possible by email, our website, and Facebook page, so that you can be fully informed about our planning for next season.

As a charitable organization that relies on donations and ticket sales (we do not receive government grants), we always appreciate financial support.  Should you wish to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the Historic Leith Church (built 1865), donations can be made by e-tranfer to our treasurer at leithfestival@noesgaard.ca.  No password is required. Cheques, payable to The Leith Summer Festival, may be mailed to  Historic Leith Church, 419134 Tom Thomson Lane, Leith, ON, N0H 1V0. Tax receipts will be forwarded in due course for amounts over $20.

Your generous support is greatly appreciated!

We wish you all the best, and good health!

Penderecki String Quartet – Update:

July 4, 2020    Penderecki String Quartet – Concert 1 at the Leith Summer Festival  – rescheduled to 2021

This year, because of restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, all concerts and events at the Leith Church have been cancelled. The Penderecki has been rescheduled to 2021.

We wish to recognize the Penderecki String Quartet whose performances have been a highlight over the last 20 years at the Leith Summer Festival concerts.

Penderecki Perform on YouTube:

We invite you to have a concert at home and listen to the Penderecki on YouTube.  The selection includes, among others, the following:

Quartetti String Festival October 19, 2018

In Memory:
This is a significant year for the Penderecki String Quartet as their mentor Maestro Krysztof Penderecki, after whom the quartet was named, died on April 1, 2020:
“The PSQ is deeply saddened by the loss of Maestro Penderecki.  We will always be grateful for his music, humanity and mentorship. His warmth, curiosity, sense of humour and singular voice will continue to  inspire us throughout our musical lives.”
See you in 2021
We miss seeing you all, and sharing together in the enjoyment of wonderful music in the Historic Leith Church, but look forward to a better year in 2021
